Start with the beverage and serving temperature

For hot drinks, the cup needs suitable rigidity, reliable seam and bottom sealing, and enough insulation for comfortable handling. Double-wall structures can improve heat insulation when the drink is served at a higher temperature. For cold drinks, the structure should also account for condensation and the time the cup will remain in use.

Confirm the paper and coating

Paper weight should be matched to cup size and use. Heavier paper is not automatically better; the correct combination of paperboard, coating and forming specification is what produces a stable cup. When requesting a quotation, state the drink type, temperature range and expected holding time so the manufacturer can recommend an appropriate structure.

Check lids and accessories as a system
